I got to share my friends ticket for one day and my experiences are extracted from only the last friday. In short, I found the conferences extremely overrated. For a price of 600 € for 2 days. Most of the meetings could be classified in two kinds. Those where the speakers (even of the plenary sessions) were not really prepared and that just were there to complete their Linkedin, and those who created a necessity to proceed selling you their product.
The location, half of the sessions were in a different building. This was like 10' away making it impossible to attend if they were in different buildings.
Regarding the service. It was horrible, dree coffee spots were permanently crowded with queues of more than 20'. No free food or snacks whatsoever and the few options were of terrible quality and very high prices. Like 16 € a curry bowl. Regarding the attending companies, they did not provide much insight or any help in the application process compared to their job portal or any normal job fair. My final score would be a 2/5.
I will describe next some talks.
The future of Cloud is WebAssembly A very very basic example was presented which did not showcased the strengths of wasm because it was compiling javascript into wasm.
Python and C++ Deutsche Bank uses and helps maintaining a library to do C++ compilations between python and C++. The library is pybind11
(https://github.com/pybind/pybind11). A lightwise library that allows interoperability between python and C++ (known as bindings). In this talk they only showed how to bind a function and a bit how to add types in Python, needed in C++. I would have expected a more challenging usecase of this library and not one of the first two examples of a documentation. This talk could be added into the group of Linkeding talks. Or talks given to get Linkeding badges.
